Dry Brush to Improve Your Skin & Your Health!
What is Dry Brushing
Dry brushing is exactly what it sounds like! It involves using a dry brush to scrub and massage your skin prior to showering or bathing. This daily ritual will leave your skin invigorated and once you do it, you’ll wish you would have started sooner!
How to Dry Brush
There are a few things worth noting when it comes to dry brushing.
Choose the Right Brush:
A brush with natural bristles (such as boar or plant-based bristles) is recommended as the synthetic kinds are prone to cause skin irritations. Also, ensure the bristles are soft enough so that you don’t irritate or break the skin. A brush with a long handle is preferable because it will allow you to access hard to reach areas.
Choose the Right Time:
Morning is the best time to dry brush. The invigorating tingle will help wake and energize you. Make sure you dry brush before you hop into the shower! You want to do this while your skin is dry – hence the phrase “dry brushing”. Dry brushing can be done once per day and should only take between 3-5 minutes. After you’re done dry brushing, shower as normal. Dry your skin completely and finish off by moisturizing your skin.
Brush in the Right Direction:
Always brush towards your heart. Start with your feet and move upwards. And then go from your neck down towards your torso. When going over your stomach, go from left to right for improved digestion. Use circular motions and apply even pressure. If you notice any redness or inflammation, you’re pushing too hard or your brush bristles are too stiff.
