Life Hack: How to Look Good Without Makeup and Still Look Put Together!
While it’s nice to leave the house all dolled up, most of the time, it simply isn’t feasible! Let’s be real, here! Your schedule is jam packed and the thought of adding a makeup routine to your ‘to do list’ is daunting!
So what’s a girl to do? You want to look cute and put together, but without the hassle of having to put on makeup. Don’t worry girl. We got ya!
Get Adequate Sleep
It goes without saying, but being well-rested is the number one thing you can do to look awake and refreshed in the morning! Try and get 8 hours of sleep every night if you can.
If you have trouble getting to sleep, turn on some white noise to drown out other sounds. There are numerous apps you can download on your phone, so it’s easy to find a soothing sound that will lull you to sleep.
If your issue is staying asleep, wear a sleep mask. This will prevent daylight from seeping through and allow you to sleep in a little longer.
Hot Tip:
Sleep on your back. This will ensure fluids drain away from your face while you rest and you won’t wake up with puffy eyes.
Eat Nutritious Food
What you put into your body correlates to the way your skin looks. If you fuel your body with nothing but processed foods, your skin will appear dull. Eat nutrient dense foods such as fruits & vegetables, whole grains, and nuts. Avoid eating the same meals every day. Include a variety of foods in your diet to ensure you are nourishing your body with the vitamins and minerals it needs to stay healthy.
Supplement Your Diet
If you are unable to meet the recommended daily intake of certain vitamins and minerals, you may need to supplement your diet. Consult with your naturopath who can make recommendations as to which supplements you should take to complement your diet.
Stay Hydrated
Your body is made up of mostly water, so it needs to stay hydrated to function optimally! Aim for a minimum of eight glasses of water per day! Water will help flush out toxins from your body, reduce puffiness, and eliminate bloat.
Exercise Regularly
Keep your body moving daily; even if it’s just a short walk. When your body is active, blood circulates better and that improves your skin’s complexion!
Protect Your Skin
This can’t be stressed enough! Protect your skin from the sun’s harmful rays! You can prevent skin cancer and premature aging by wearing SPF every.single.day.
Avoid Touching Your Face!
You may not even notice you’re doing it, but your chin may be resting on your hand or your face may be touching your phone’s receiver while you’re on a call. Either way, when your hands or other objects come into contact with your face, you may be unwillingly inviting bacteria onto your skin. These bacteria could breed and cause your skin to break out. Keep those dirty little vermins off your face at all cost if you want to avoid an acne breakout.
Wash Your Hair More Often
Since dry shampoo is all the rage right now, it’s possible you could go without washing your hair for over a week! Yikes! Make sure those locks don’t touch your face. Excess dirt and oils could come into contact with your skin and make your skin more prone to breakouts.
Groom Your Brows
An easy way to look like you’ve got your life under control is by making sure your eyebrows are on point! If you have stray hairs, pluck ‘em! If your hairs are growing out of control, trim ‘em!
Accentuate Your Eyes!
Since you’re not wearing makeup, one way to have people focus your eyes is to accentuate your eyelashes. You can do so by either curling your lashes, or by getting a lash lift. A lash lift is basically like getting your lashes permed, and it lasts up to six weeks!
Exfoliate Weekly
If your skin is looking dull, it’s time to exfoliate! Sloughing off the top layers of skin reveals new, baby soft skin underneath. That’s the glowy skin you’re looking for!
Follow a Daily Skincare Routine
Okay, girl, it’s time! You gotta get yourself on a regular skincare routine, alright? If you can only commit to doing it once per day, stick to your evening routine. Wash your face before bed. Use toner to remove any remaining dirt and oil residue. Finish off by slathering your skin with your favorite nourishing night cream, face oil, or serum. Your nighttime skin treatment is what’s gonna help your skin do the ‘dirty work’ while you sleep. Upon waking up, your skin will look radiant!
Pay Attention to Your Oral Hygiene
Last, but certainly not least, is oral hygiene. If you’re going to go out in the public without makeup, at least have a clean, bright smile! That’s not too much to ask, right? Keep your Chiclets sparkly white by getting regular teeth whitening treatments.
And finally, wear that beautiful bright smile. A smile can light up your whole face. You can let your true beauty shine – no makeup required!
