Baobab {pronounced BEY-oh-Bab} is the common name for one of the 9 species of trees in the genus Adansonia, native to the Madagascar, Africa, and Australia regions. This tree bears a fruit that is unlike any other. The beobab fruit has a velvety outer shell and the inside is composed of a powdery white pulp. It is roughly the size of a small coconut and weighs about 3lbs. It’s tangy, citrusy flavor is often described to be “somewhere between grapefruit, pear, and vanilla.”
